Life is full of the unexpected. That's certainly the case for 18-year-old Lee Ogden. The week of his high school graduation, his grandmother suddenly passes away. Then, a few days later, a letter arrives at his home in Harper, Texas informing him he's been accepted to a university he's never heard of, let alone enrolled in. And, not only has he been accepted to be a part of their upcoming freshman class, he has also been awarded a full scholarship.
Now, at the end of a lonely summer, Lee is off on a bus to the scrub land of central New Mexico to join the ranks of Desert Hills University. It isn't long before Lee discovers that this new chapter in his life will be a journey filled with new challenges, friends and adversaries, boundaries pushed, desires unlocked and embraced, and a profound chance to leave his comfort zone (and his clothes) behind at almost every turn.
